Food Is Cultural And It's Political. So, What's A Woke Cook To Do In These Modern Times?
Cookbook author and writer Julia Turshen knows food and activism, and recently woke a cookbook combining the two into a guide for activists called "Feed the Resistance: Recipes + Ideas for Getting Involved". Part cookbook and part guide for making change, it brings together over 25 chefs and writers from across the country to share their wisdom.
In this panel discussion, Nicole Taylor, author of The UpSouth cookbook, will moderate a conversation with Julia Turshen and several local contributors of "Feed the Resistance" - Von Diaz, Devita Davison, Hawa Hassan & Jordyn Lexton.
They will discuss ways in which we all can spark the revolution in our kitchens and how food activism can be pushed toward deeper and more complex engagement with social, racial, and economic justice and toward advocating for broader and more transformational shifts in the food system.
