Cracking the Asphalt: Weeds as r/evolution

Location: HM 144
Date: Sun, March 25
Time: 1:00 PM - 2:15 PM

Mugwort - dandelion - burdock, weeds are the opportunistic "others" of the plant kingdom, persisting even when they are ripped from gardens and sprayed with chemicals in the streets. Can we learn from the resistance of wild plants as fuel in the fight to lift youth, Queer, Trans, POC and immigrant voices in building equitable ecological systems? In this workshop, we will explore radical acts of solidarity between human and plant communities, sharing stories of stigmatized flora that have migrated to New York City from around the world. Participants will plant seeds to take home and learn about their uses in our gardens, in our bodies and in our city.
