Improving Healthy Food Access through Community-Led Projects and Partnerships: A Vermont Case Study

Location: TH 227
Date: Sun, March 25
Time: 1:00 PM - 2:15 PM
Join three food security practitioners from Vermont working to address healthy food access in their local and statewide communities. Sarah Alexander (Intervale Center), Jennie Porter (Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont), and Emmet Moseley (Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity) will share their experiences developing unique programs that challenge the old paradigm of emergency food handouts and instead promote creative, dignified alternatives for both eaters and farmers. This workshop will expose three different approaches (i.e. gleaning, subsidized CSA programs, and the Good Food Truck) to foster healthy and inclusive communities through the power of food.
