The junk food industry spends $4.2 billion a year to directly target youth, especially youth of color, through various target-marketing tricks. In the ethos of the successful Truth campaign ads to counter market the tobacco industry, City Harvest is offering trainings and resources to empower youth to create counter marketing ads as a method to disarm the big junk food industry. In this interactive training, you will first learn about the CUNY-based curriculum we are using at two NYC public schools and before putting some of the tools to the test to create a makeshift countering marketing ad of your own. Youth and their practitioners are strongly encouraged to participate in this session.
