Jocelyn Apicello is the director of the Bard Prison Initiative's (BPI) Urban Farming & Sustainability program. She teaches public health courses related to food justice to incarcerated individuals enrolled with BPI and supervises the on-site organic garden at two correctional facilities. She also works with individuals once released in finding work in the food and farming worlds, finding freedom through food and farming, and she hopes to help find land to address centuries-old land rights denial. Jocelyn also is the owner/operator, along with her husband, of Longhaul Farm in Garrison, NY and a director of the non-profit Ecological Citizen's Project, which helps to build citizen-led campaigns to promote a more just, healthy, democratic and sustainable way-of-life.
