Programs & Permaculture

Marisa Prefer is a trans-disciplinary educator, urban ecologist and amateur herbalist who works to translate knowledge between plant and human communities through experiential learning. Part of their work involves bringing to light the marginalized spaces between human and plant binaries, while also healing bodies. Prefer serves as the Programs Manager for Swale, a Landscape Curator at Pioneer Works in Red Hook, and is the Horticultural Advisor at The Vera List Center for Art and Politics. Prefer has previously helped to run the Children's Garden at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, makes work as part of the collective non/studio and is always interested in collaborating.
