As City Harvest’s manager of Community Engagement in the South Bronx, Steven Deheeger works with community organizations and residents across South Bronx neighborhoods to address the systemic root causes of food insecurity. Steven brings over ten years of organizing experience across issues to his work, including housing, unions, immigration, police and prisons, anti-racism, and more. Steven has lived New York City for over twelve years (making him a two-year-old New Yorker) and has lived and worked in the South Bronx for nearly a decade. Though he did now grow up in the South Bronx, he was ecstatic to recently discover that his great-great-grandfather’s family lived in Hunts Point in the early 1900s. Steven is a member of Closing the Hunger Gap’s national Changing the Narrative Taskforce.
